My (Cheap!) Thanksgiving

I love cooking for Thanksgiving. :) Love having people come over to our home, eat too much, then nap on our couches. This was our first Thanksgiving in our new house so I decided I wanted to do a little bit of decorating. But because I had just blown a crapton of money on my Halloween Birthday party I was a little short on cash.

In walks Dollar Tree! Unlike other dollar stores everything at Dollar Tree is just a dollar. Which is AWESOME! I was able to find all sorts of little sprigs of fall leaves to use for centerpieces, etc. Also, they sell table runners, placemats, and other table settings. They aren't super durable, but it's Thanksgiving! I expect a few gravy dribblies to land on the placemats, so I don't want to spend too much on them.

We don't have a large dining room table yet and had to fit 6 people so we mushed two tables together.

The table runner is just a piece of burlap from WalMart, I bought 2 yards of it for $6. I used it for the table runner and to wrap the napkins in.

Here are the place settings. :)

The brown placemat was from Dollar Tree ($1), the felt leaf placemat was from Bed, Bath, and Beyond ($2). I folded our napkins then wrapped them in a bit of burlap and tied with some twine, also from Dollar Tree. Our mason jar glasses are from WalMart ($6 for 12). And the baskets are another Dollar Tree purchase full of pine cones and colored leaves.

I filled some cheap WalMart hurricane vases ($4-6 each) with popcorn seeds and candles. I made little wreaths out of leaves and put them under the vase bottoms. :)

All  in all I think it came out pretty nice!
